Like many good things in life, we got to our (awesome) product the hard way. In 2011, our three co-founders decided to develop an app and a service that was heavily dependent on persistent location. They had to know where the user was all the time without giving up on location accuracy. That was actually easy to implement, but then their battery died within two hours and their phones heated up to the point they couldn’t carry them in their pockets.

This was clearly a problem. Never shy of a good challenge, they chose to solve this problem. They worked extremely hard, investing a lot of time and effort (a lot), and – voila! – problem solved. They then realized they had solved a big problem, a problem many developers face and one that is key to a huge market. So they ditched the original product and KitLocate was born.

Since then, we have built the most encompassing location solution with a great package of related services, including a location based push notification platform, geo-fencing capabilities with advanced rules and events, motion detection, mobile to mobile relations and an analytics and reports platform. We’ve created a location solution like no other out there. We look forward to sharing it with you.

On March 18th, 2014 it was announced that KitLocate has been acquired by Yandex (YNDX (NASDAQ)). The KitLocate team is joining Yandex and will continue to develop and market the KitLocate SDK and location platform under the KitLocate brand. Learn more
